On Saturday 18 September, 14 members of the Genesis Research Group UK team embarked upon a 14-mile teambuilding walk from Whitley Bay to Newcastle Quayside in the North East of England, where the Genesis Research Group UK office is based. The walk reunited the team for the first time in 18 months after working from home during the pandemic. It also gave many new colleagues the opportunity to meet for the very first time.

UK Team

The route was a section of Hadrian’s Cycleway, described as “a 170-mile exploration into Britain’s past”. We started outside of Spanish City in Whitley Bay, famous for its history as a seaside dancehall and funfair attraction, and journeyed along the seafront to Tynemouth, taking in views of the North Sea coastline and Tynemouth Priory. We then walked inland along the River Tyne, passing the North Shields Fish Quay, Segedunum Roman Fort, and Swan Hunter, an internationally renowned shipbuilding and engineering firm with 130 years of local industrial heritage. The site of the iconic bridges and stunning Sage music centre at Newcastle Gateshead Quayside marked our journey’s end.

‘We’ve been delighted with how well the team has adapted to working from home, but it was fantastic to be back together again, said participant Stephen Ralston, Chief Commercial Officer & Head of EU Client Relationships, who recently thank the UK team on behalf of the Genesis Research leadership by gifting them branded rucksacks, pens and bottles. ‘Spending time with our colleagues, both to support one another with work goals and socially, is a big part of our company culture and one of the reasons we have such a productive environment.’

The walk was great fun,’ Stephen continued. ‘It was the perfect team building event as when you’re walking that far together, all you can do is talk!’

The UK team had a fantastic day and everyone agreed that we are looking forward to arranging even more teambuilding activities in the future.

We are always in search of the right people to join our team, both in the UK and US, so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to find out more. Please review the career opportunities on our website or contact solutions@grg.inspya.net.
